Racing Club beat Platense 1-0, in a match played this Sunday at the Ciudad de Vicente López stadium and valid for the twentieth day of the Professional Football League.
The only goal of the game was scored by the attacker of the “Academy” Maximiliano Romero (the first with the Racing shirt) at 14 minutes of the second stage.
The victory left Racing in fourth position with 34 points, two behind the Gimnasia leader (it plays on Tuesday against Central Córdoba in Santiago del Estero), while Platense continues with 29 units and in ninth place.
Platense had a pure offensive start with two scoring chances before two minutes, taking advantage of the fact that Racing still hadn’t fully settled into the field.
As the minutes passed, the visit evened out the match process, although he did not have clear plays to try to bother goalkeeper Marcos Ledesma.
The development of the game was very disputed, and although the “albiceleste” team had a little more ball, the “Squid” was more vertical.
The beginning of the second stage showed the two teams without clear game ideas and with a parity in development.
After 14 minutes, after an individual play by Emiliano Vecchio, the ball was left to Romero who defined with class over the body of goalkeeper Ledesma to score his first goal with the Racing shirt.
After the goal in favor, Avellaneda’s men were patient in handling the ball and resorted to judicious passes to try to get closer to goalkeeper Ledesma.
The “Squid”, meanwhile, could not generate play to achieve at least a draw and lacked the offensive power shown at the start of the game.
The last quarter of an hour had a lackluster development, with a Racing that gave the ball to its rival, that although it had a little more it was not clear to reach equality.
On the next day (21st.) Racing will host Unión de Santa Fe, while Platense will visit Rosario Central.
