Mayor Mónica Peña requested reports from the Municipality
Protected by Article 284 of the Constitution of the Republic, the Mayor of the Frente Amplio Bench requested information about the situation of the Cerro Largo Student Home in Montevideo.
This request for reports is addressed to the Government of Cerro Largo and was made during the Half Hour Before the Session last Thursday, February 12.
“In recent days we have received some concerns about the operation of the Student Home in Montevideo belonging to the Departmental Administration of Cerro Largo” began by expressing the Teacher Mónica Peña.
“For this reason and under the provisions of Article 284 of the Constitution of the Republic, the following request for reports is requested from the Mayor: total number of places available, number of students admitted in the period 2025-2026, number of students graduated during the same period, number of students currently residing, criteria established to be able to enter said home and number of managers and schedules they meet” asked the Departmental Legislator of the Frente Amplio.
ABOUT THE WORKS THAT ARE BEING CARRIED OUT
“On the other hand, another request for information, also linked to the Cerro Largo Student Home in Montevideo. Under the protection of Article 284 of the Constitution of the Republic, the following request for information is requested from the Mayor: A- who is carrying out works. Yes, a call for bids was made to Companies and if the answer is positive, which Company was awarded. B- How much is the budget to carry out these reforms, when the work began and when it is estimated that will be finished” said Teacher Mónica Peña.
PROMOTE A VISIT FROM THE EDUCATION COMMISSION
“The third note is addressed to the Education and Culture Commission, which we know has among its tasks that of analyzing and promoting actions focused on projects related to culture and education in the department. It is for this reason that I request this Commission to carry out the pertinent procedures to shortly visit the Montevideo Student Home, belonging to the Departmental Administration of Cerro Largo to see first-hand the renovations that are being carried out, learn about its operation and be able to talk with Managers and students about the current situation in terms of achievements and needs to be able to accompany, support and manage all the contributions that may favor their stay in the country’s capital.” The Mayor of the Broad Front Bench closed.
