Panama’s Senior National Quintet said goodbye with an 88-66 victory against the Bahamas in the last match and closing of Window 6 in Group E of the FIBA World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers; in a meeting that was held at the Roberto Durán Arena.
Panama secured each period to close its participation with three wins and nine losses; occupying the fifth position in group E.
The best on offense for Panama were Tony Bishop Jr. with 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds, seven defensive; followed by point guard Carlos Javier “CJ” Rodríguez with 15 points, four rebounds, three defensemen, three assists and two personal fouls, center Eric Romero and Trevor Gaskins, both contributed 13 points each; Ernesto “Mauro” Oglivie was the leader under the boards with ten rebounds, seven were defensive and like Josimar Ayarza, both finished with 10 points.
For Bahamas, the most outstanding Kadeem Coleby with 11 points and nine rebounds; Domnick Bridgewater also had 11 points, three rebounds, five assists, five turnovers and recovered the ball five times; Kentwan Smith had 10 and grabbed nine rebounds, five were defensive; Roosevelt Whyley and Ahmad Pratt added 7 points each and three rebounds.
Upon completion of Window 6 of the Americas Qualifiers for the FIBA World Cup 2023, the seven teams qualified for the World Cup by the Continent of America: Brazil, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
