Quintero students attend a medical center after presenting discomfort due to an environmental emergency in the commune

A group of students from two educational establishments in the Quintero commune, Valparaíso region, attended health centers to be treated for physical discomfort, it is estimated that it is a possible poisoning.

To remember that during the early hours of this Monday a peak of sulfur dioxide was recorded in the area, causing the Superintendence of the Environment to decree an Environmental Emergency in the communes of Quintero, Puchuncaví and Concón; and went to the place to analyze the case. Finally, this alarm was canceled by specifying that the levels returned to normal.

As stated Radio Bio Bio It would be 10 students -all minors- from Colegio Don Orione, and another 19 people -including students and staff- from Colegio Costa Mauco. All were treated at the nearest health centers.

The Seremi of Education determined that the establishments that have students with discomfort send all their students to their homes. Regarding the adolescents analyzed, it is presumed that it is an intoxication, but the Health personnel have not yet confirmed the fact.
