Quibdó authorities evaluate measures after the murder of two young dancers

The most recent case corresponds to two young people who were missing in Quibdó, Chocó since January 19, They were found dead near a garbage dump in the capital of Chocó.

According to the local administration, the two men were identified as Javier Alejandro Valencia Valencia and Juan David Ramírez Rodríguez, known in the dance world as Leandro and Smith, who were part of the Chicos Dance group and who were part of the Dance and Poetry project supported by the Ministry of Culture.

For its part, the national ministry rejected the murder of the two young people, 17-year-old Valencia and 19-year-old Ramírez. “The ministry expresses its condolences to family, friends and companions of both young people, and repudiates these violent acts against civil society”.

Likewise, the Ministry indicated that the dance for the youth of Quibdó, especially for those who live in more vulnerable conditions, It is a lifestyle, a way of expressing oneself and an alternative to rebuild the social fabric, seek a life project away from violence and build a culture of peace.

Finally, the entity indicated that “This tragic act represents a blow to hope and an attempt to silence those valuable voices and expressions that, from the ministry, we will continue to support and promote with determination and commitment.”

For its part, Unicef ​​Colombia, through its office in Chocó, expressed his rejection of the murder of the two young people; He also assures that they were part of Unicef’s ‘Voices of Power’, a project that seeks to promote youth leadership in the territories of the Colombian Pacific and contribute to consolidating narratives of peace and coexistence, promoting life projects away from violence.

According to the entity, in 2024the number of murdered young people reached 148 and in 2023 it was 66, according to data from Legal Medicine.
