During the second week of December, Guyanese have been reporting an increase in queues for fuel supplies. In an interview with this medium, drivers consulted alleged that there is a certain nervousness, since they prefer to have a full tank due to the proximity of the December festivities and the uncertainty about next January 10.
“Yes, there is nervousness. There is fuel, but many things are happening. People are storing fuel. January is coming, there is a lot of political uncertainty. I believe that there is enough to supply the population, but there are times when there are nerves: the lines build up and suddenly they disappear,” said Luis Arrechedera, driver of the entity.

Given the increase in queues during this second week of December, Governor Ángel Marcano published a video on social networks ensuring that fuel is guaranteed; nevertheless, The lines did not stop at the different service stations.
“We are at the Villa Colombia service station. Since last Monday a rumor has been created that there is no fuel in the state, a rumor to create uncertainty and distrust among our people. “I, responsibly, am here, telling you that there is enough fuel every day,” Marcano said.
For his part, another driver stated that there is a lot of uncertainty in the region regarding this issue and, given the mobilization at the end of the year, many drivers prefer to make sure they have the resource.
“What has been seen for two or three days now is that there is not enough fuel. I don’t know what’s going on, but I see they’re pumping gas every day. I don’t know if people are desperate. But here we are. It’s what we have to do. Yesterday I was in line for a long time and I couldn’t get out. I don’t know if it’s nervousness, it could be part of it. It’s coming on the 24th and it’s not known if they will supply it. Suddenly January also comes,” said Rigo Rosales.
