The president of the board of directors of Petroperu, Alejandro Narvaezwas defiant this Monday by ensuring that his management has the support of the ministers of the president’s government Dina Boluarte.
“I don’t care if I stay until tomorrow, I have the confidence of the ministers,” he said during a press conference.
The director of the state oil company questioned one of his predecessors, who pointed out that the oil company is bankrupt. In that sense, he assured that the company has a positive net worth of US$ 2,460 million.
“When a company is bankrupt it means that the net worth is negative, that the loss exceeds the equity. That is called a loss, real bankruptcy and there are salvations; however, it was not and never was with negative equity. Not like some former Petroperú director said that the company was literally bankrupt or he did not understand or did not know these figures or he was never interested or he purposely wanted to bankrupt this company,” he said.
However, between January and October of this year, the Government disbursed a total of S/6.1 billion to Petroperú for capitalization. Despite this, the new head of the public company affirms that it was not bankrupt: “Petroperú was never even in technical bankruptcy because technical bankruptcy has solutions, exits. When a company cannot pay its bills on time, it enters a kind of of insolvency and that is negotiation. It is looking with the shareholders, with financial creditors and it comes out and there is a way out.
Narváez showed the figures that Petroperú workers earn, in which it is observed that the General Manager has a salary of S/ 26,607, while the Corporate Manager, S/ 25,559; the Department Manager 19,482; the Headquarters, S/ 14,717; the supervisors S/11,822; and employees S/ 8,775.
“I don’t care if I stay until tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but as a Peruvian I have the obligation because I have the trust of the ministers and the president who appointed me. She told me: ‘Alejandro, you take care of this mess,'” he added. .
