Talent trainer and promoter of projects that promote quality of life. This is how the Uruguayan company Tatton is defined, which has become one of the benchmarks in the swimming pool industry, encompassing all its aspects.
Also a leader in high performance heating, Tatton was born 10 years ago but has more than 25 experience in the sector and during this time it has always been linked to swimming pools, but in the last five years and in a process of continuous improvement in the face of his customers embarked on production.
“For a long time fiberglass pools were installed and at one point we moved away from the sector due to a lack of quality in the product. Local suppliers did not achieve product standardization and their production processes were erratic, so they could not ensure the minimum necessary quality that we wanted. After a while we had the opportunity to partner with a local factory, which allowed us to fully enter the industrial process and focus on developing a good quality product ”, said the director, Charles Tatton.
“From there we were able to place greater emphasis on the quality aspects of the product and apply innovative techniques. We hired an Argentine engineer with a lot of experience in team building and incorporated technology and training from Brazil. We include young people in the squad who want to work and learn and today we have a highly motivated, well-trained team that works together with the plant manager in a process of continuous improvement in product quality ”, he explained.
Charles Tatton is concerned that the market is not fully “normalized” both in product quality and in formal aspects of the industry such as social security, occupational safety or environmental aspects.
“As a chemical industry we are obliged to have occupational safety aspects different from the traditional one. We are a sector that has rigorous environmental factors; We handle chemical products that, if not applied with personal protective equipment, can be harmful to health, so we must work with safety equipment, with masks and overalls. All of this is not common in the industry, and even less so for the countless informal companies that exist ”, the director stressed.
He added that his company has a prevention technician and an occupational health doctor, something that few companies in the sector comply with. Then there are about “15 factories or workshops” that do not provide any kind of attention to these matters, he continued. “We have a ventilation system in the plant that renews the air 10 times per hour, which makes it of very good quality. Only 2 of us have this in the country ”.
For his part, Diego Ríos, Tatton’s commercial manager, indicated that “for years” they have been monitoring all these points of the market. “We always say the same thing, it can’t be that nobody does anything. During the pandemic, many items exploded, one of them was swimming pools. Everything that had been happening multiplied. We do not want anyone to lose their source of work, but we do want clear and uniform rules for all of us who participate in the industry and that, unfortunately, is not what happens ”.
In all the details
Charles Tatton stressed that his firm is the “only one” that weighs pools once they are ready to go out to meet customer demands. “We want it to resemble the planned ideal,” he said. Because the manufacturing procedure depends a lot on the experience of the operator and beyond all the applied technology, “it has a certain degree of craftsmanship.”
“We use a new technology in the manufacture of swimming pools, it is a“ sprayer ”or spray gun that simultaneously applies the resin, the catalyst and the fiberglass on the mold. This technology is only applied by leading companies in the sector, the others use manual lamination. We understand the innovation and investment we make that is something to highlight ”, highlighted Charles Tatton.
Tatton manufactures fiberglass pools in its own plant and also equips concrete pools for construction companies. “We cover the entire swimming pool sector, the entire range of market demand. Filtration system, lighting, etc., for all types of orders, as well as the sale and installation of SPAS ”, the director explained.
The pool at home has ceased to be a luxury accessory to become an element accessible to an average public thanks to the reduction in prices – the fiberglass is worth half of the concrete – on the other hand the financing lines that offered by the banks – Tatton has an agreement with BBVA that allows the customer to buy his pool in 36 installments with a zero rate – has contributed to the increase in demand.
Water care has also had an impact on this, an increasingly less cumbersome practice. “There is much more technology in water care, 20 years ago we incorporated a product called salt chlorinator, a small unit that produces chlorine in the pool without the need to add chlorine to the water. This makes pool care much easier, healthier and more user-friendly and the user experience much more comfortable ”, explained Charles Tatton.
With the salt chlorinator and an automatic vacuum cleaner such as a Barracuda, which is also in Tatton’s offer, it only remains to measure the PH of the water every week or 15 days, according to the general manager, who also highlighted the low electricity consumption of the pumps, the led lights and the heaters. In this regard, “with an investment of US $ 2,000 or US $ 3,000, the use of the pool doubles, reaching temperatures of 28 to 32 degrees Celsius.”
Tatton provides a premium pool installation. “We have acquired new installation techniques that ensure long-term product durability,” concluded Charles Tatton.
