PvC "will not push" to default but clarified that "does not share" the economic program

The JxC National Table debated last Sunday by videoconference

The opposition coalition Together for Change assured last Sunday that “it will not push Argentina to default” but at the same time expressed that “it does not share or agree” with the government’s economic program, a position that it will transmit this Monday in plenary of the Budget and Finance commissions of the Chamber of Deputies, which will be attended by the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán.

Through a statement from its National Table, which this Sunday debated by videoconference, the alliance made up of the PRO, the UCR and the Civic Coalition reported that the meeting will they reached “three coincidences”, consisting of “not pushing Argentina to default”, publicly expressing disagreement with the economic plan and empowering “the bloc presidents to carry out the parliamentary strategy”.

“Due to institutional responsibility, we cannot and will not push Argentina to default,” they underlined, while in relation to the agreement with the IMF and the goals agreed upon by the economic team, they pointed out that “they do not share or agree” with the program presented by the Front of All management.

“We are going to deepen this position starting this Monday with the presence of Minister Martín Guzmán, so that he can clarify all doubts for us,” they added.

And then they claimed that “While the Government is divided, Together for Change is united”to finally anticipate that the National Table of that coalition will meet again “between Tuesday and Wednesday” of this week.

In the virtual meeting were the former president Mauricio Macrithe head of the Buenos Aires government Horacio Rodriguez Larreta and the heads of the parties that form JxC, such as the governor of Jujuy Gerardo Morales for the UCR, the national deputy Maximilian Ferraro by the Civic Coalition, the former Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich on behalf of the PRO and former senator Miguel Picketto by Federal Republican Encounter.

National senators also participated Louis Naidenoff (UCR-Formosa), Alfredo Cornejo (UCR-Mendoza), Humberto Schiavoni (PRO-Missions) and Martin Lousteau (UCR-CABA); the national deputies Maria Eugenia Vidal and Laura Rodriguez Machado; the Buenos Aires deputy Maricel Etchecoin and the leaders Ernest Sanz (RCU) and Ramon Door (Federal Republican Gathering).

Lastly, as specialists in economics, the JxC advisers on these issues spoke at the videoconference: national deputy Luciano Laspina (PRO-Santa Fe); the dean of the School of Government of the Di Tella University, Eduardo Levy Yeyati, and the former Minister of Economy Hernán Lacunza.
