Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that mercenaries from the Wagner Group they could join the Russian army or go to Belarus, after the paramilitary group carried out an armed rebellion.
“They have the possibility of continuing to serve Russia with a contract with the Ministry of Defense or other law enforcement agencies or return to his family and loved onessaid the president. “Whoever wants can go to Belarus.”
He also assured that during the aborted rebellion he gave the order to avoid “bloodshed” which, according to him, Ukraine and its Western allies were looking for, while thanking the Russians for their “patriotism” and unity.
“Since the beginning of events, action was taken on my instructions direct to avoid a lot of bloodshed,” Putin said during a televised address.
The West and Ukraine wanted “a fratricidal result”, added.
