The Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (Adodem) highlighted the strategic role that plays the cement industry in it economic development of the country, highlighting its extensive productive chain with key sectors such as construction, non-metallic mining, transportation, energy and various service and manufacturing subsectors.
The entity highlighted that cement producing companies make significant contributions to the national economy, not only through the generation of direct jobs and indirect, but also through the revitalization of various productive sectors.
This includes the acquisition of supplies and services local payments by companies in the sector, whose amounts amount to 21,851.90 million of pesos, according to a report carried out by the DASA consulting firm for the entity.
“He economic impact of our industry transcends its direct contribution to the gross domestic product. Each ton of cement produced activates a value network which involves hundreds of suppliers, transporters, technicians and professionals in the construction sector, generating formal employment and stimulating regional investment,” stated the president of Adodem, Jorge David Perez.
Productive chain
The report also reveals that this purchasing process generates approximately 7,414 indirect jobs. Of these, 2,287 are in the goods sector, and 5,127 in the services sector.
These jobs represent annual salaries by 1,874 million of pesos, as well as tax contributions amounting to 4,493 million pesos, corresponding to the tax on the transfer of industrialized goods and services (ITBIS) and the income tax (ISR).
Furthermore, the document indicates that the multiplier effect extends to the marketing channels and product distribution logistics, where the creation of 16,736 jobs additional, with a wage bill annual of 4,368 million pesos.
“The commitment of the cement industry has remained firm during 2025; At the end of September, the total sales volume, including exports, registered a growth of 2.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. This result is the product of investments in operational efficiency and the strength of national production, which continues to guarantee full supply to the Dominican market,” Pérez emphasized.
He added that this performance reaffirms the cement leadership as one of the most important products within the national manufacturing and as an essential pillar for the competitiveness of the country’s productive apparatus.
With these results, the cement industry consolidates its position as strategic axis for him economic development and social of the Dominican Republic, contributing to the construction of essential infrastructure and the sustainable growth of the country.
