The president of the Republic, Louis Abinaderwill request from the Chamber of Accounts a audit of the Punta Catalina project, so that Dominicans know the details of the money that has been invested in the plants, as reported this Sunday during his address to the country.
“You have always heard me say it and today I repeat it: with the money of the Dominicans you do not play. You have the right to know how it has been spent in the past and how we will spend each peso, because it is your money”, affirmed the president.
Abinader also stated that another financial audit by an international company to provide details of the Punta Catalina trust project.

This, according to Abinader, after having the results of a preliminary technical audit on the condition of the Punta Catalina plants, which were delivered on January 25, and which will be announced in the coming days.

The head of state explained that he will ask the Senate of the Republic to postpone the knowledge of the project of escrow of Punta Catalina until the Economic and Social Council (CES) receives the opinions of all the sectors that want to contribute “to find the most appropriate and transparent mechanism in the management and preservation of thermoelectric plants.”
