The arrival of the presidential candidate, Pillip Butters, to the city of Juliaca caused protests from the relatives of the victims of January 9 and residents, who described him as a “terruqueador.” After attending an interview with a radio media outlet, the candidate for the presidency of Avanza País remained hidden in the media outlet’s premises for more than two hours.
At 11:30 a.m., dozens of police officers from the Special Services Unit (USE) arrived at the location, located in Jirón Ramón Castilla, who, amid a shower of eggs, stones, water and other objects, rescued Butters by taking him to the police station, two blocks from the media outlet.

After listening to the interview in the media, dozens of relatives of the victims of January 9, leaders of organizations and residents gathered at the door of the radio station, where they protested against the candidate for the Presidency of the Republic.
“They told us that we are terrorists and now they come to look for votes as if nothing happened, we are not going to allow that, we ask for unity of the population. We should not vote for the parties that defeated us and supported this government of Dina Boluarte,” said the leader of the victims’ families, Raúl Samillan.
