Puerto Rico exchanges solidarity experiences with Cuba and Venezuela

The president of the CSC, Milagros Rivera, explained that they held a virtual seminar workshop with the purpose of speeding up the dissemination of expressions of denunciation and solidarity among the peoples, in the face of the avalanche of propaganda harmful to their interests.

The vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Víctor Gaute, highlighted the importance of this type of meeting when the use of social networks for defamatory offensives against the Revolution intensifies.

Gaute, accompanied by ICAP officials Lilia María Zamora and Julia Cabrera, addressed virtually the participants of the seminar in San Juan on the continuation of the battle of ideas that the eternal commander Fidel Castro articulated at the time to face the offensive imperialist.

During his speech, the secretary general of the Latin American Federation of Journalists (Felap), Nelson del Castillo, highlighted the importance of rejecting the manipulation of language used by the dominant sectors to distort the truth.

“We have to establish our own communication norms and not be unconscious reproducers of the content of those who want to destroy the democratic processes of the peoples,” said the journalistic leader.

Meanwhile, the publicist Erasto Zayas illustrated how to develop a campaign through the media to achieve effectiveness in the message.

Ricardo Santos, former president of the Electrical and Irrigation Industry Workers’ Union (Utier), addressed social communication in the workers’ struggle to build their future.

Meanwhile, through videoconference, the Venezuelan Yhonny García, coordinator of the Communications Commission of the Continental Network, highlighted the importance of the use of social networks in the fight against misinformation that is generated through them.

In this regard, the Nicaraguan journalist Arlenin Aguillón abounded, when addressing the analysis of the discourse of the corporate media aimed at falsifying the truth.

Meanwhile, Izrael Bretón, a professional IT technician from the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, spoke about platform management.

Puerto Rican photojournalists Luis López, from the Hostosian National Independence Movement (MINH), and Víctor R. Birriel, a collaborator with the Inter News Service agency, exposed the relevance of the message alone in journalistic photography.

Venezuelan poet Janette Rodríguez contributed her experience in video editing from Caracas, with the contribution of Víctor Rivera-Pastrana and Luis Fidel, from the Communications Group of the CSC of Puerto Rico, in San Juan.
