Puebla, Pue. The city council of Puebla, without having a formal project for install parking meters in the Historic Center, included in the Income Law of this year his charge up to 10 pesos per hour, which was recognized by the mayor, Eduardo Rivera Pérez.
Last week, the municipal authorities specified that the operation of these teams first had to be submitted to the opinion of experts and the businessmen of the area, in order to have a comprehensive project.
In this context, the mayor of Puebla made it clear that this is not a final decision, but to analyze what is best for the city in terms of mobility and the best use of public space by pedestrians and motorists.
He commented that having included the parking meter collection in the Income Law for this year, is due to the fact that they must anticipate some issues, especially when it is the collection of services.
He deepened that the amount that was set for cost is not the definitive one, because the installation project has to be done, for which they will include opinions from experts and business organizations that are in the Historic Center of Puebla.
Rivera Pérez indicated that the date to present the proposal has not yet been set, because it implies a whole process of meetings to achieve a viable document, but that it will respond to the needs of the businesses.
He urged that a scenario of speculation not start, because the authorities together with the Private Initiative will be working on analyzing which streets have the greatest vehicular conflict in the center of Angelopolis and require a parking meter.
Bidding
The mayor commented that the service provider will be determined through bidding and they will set the cost that best suits the needs of those who are constant users of the area.
The Merchants Council of the Historic Center has been speaking out for the operation of parking meters against the profit of streets made by the so-called franeleros, who charge an amount without justification.
