Santo Domingo, DR. Students of the Hotel Administration career, Food and Beverage concentration of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), won gold with outstanding participation in the 2022 Culinary Grand Prize, held at the Santo Domingo Gastronomic Expo.
In the Pastry category, the winners were María Laura Paulino, María Fernanda and Salomé Nuva. While, in the Hot Cuisine category, Yelian Estévez, Alejandro Aponte, José Liriano and Mario Báez.
Judges Nicole Baba, Elvis Núñez, Solange Cid, and Milly Pimientel, who qualified the Pastry category, stated that “PUCMM students have the ability to participate as professionals, due to the quality and technique used to make the dessert. ”.
170 competitors and 75 participating teams from all over the country were national finalists in hot cooking, 10 teams of three students and 8 teams of two competitors. The Culinary Grand Prize aims to raise the level and project the skills of gastronomic professionals and students in the different areas of national cuisine, in addition to extolling Dominican gastronomy.
The national competition took place on Tuesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 30, at the Hotel Catalonia, Santo Domingo.
International Certification
The PUCMM School of Tourism and Gastronomy is the only one in the country to have international certification by the World Association of Chefs Societies, recognized for the quality of its graduates and for having study programs adapted to the needs of the labor market. both nationally and internationally.
