The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (Pucmm) presented its 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, whose purpose is to chart a path towards a more digital, innovative, inclusive and sustainable university.
The document has four transversal axes: promoting the Catholic identity of the university, as well as its digital transformation, with the incorporation of technology and digitization in all aspects of university life.
Likewise, it seeks quality assurance, focused on guaranteeing that educational, investigative and administrative processes are continuously evaluated and improved. And finally, implement environmentally friendly practices and technologies.
In addition, its four strategic axes are transformative and comprehensive training, research and innovation for the world, linking with impact in the country and the region, and institutional management of excellence.
“With this 2023-2028 strategic plan, Pucmm is renewed and relaunched as a research and innovative higher education institution, committed to the development of the country and the global environment, and quality management and academic excellence, adapted to new technologies and focused on the promotion of culture and the dignity of the person”, explained the rector of this academy, Father Secilio Espinal.
Joshua Guzmán, Director of Institutional Planning, gave details of how the academy designed this strategic plan, with the integration of the university community and international advisers, among them, the Interuniversity Center for Development. The presentation was attended by more than 200 people, including teachers, employees, students, graduates, businessmen and special guests.
Commitment to the planet
The act was attended by the Minister of Higher Education, Franklin García Fermín, who offered a reflection on the changes that Dominican society has had and the need for higher education academies to promote a transformative, supportive, and respectful education for the natural resources.
“Universities must plan their actions, which is what you are doing (Pucmm), instilling principles, values, attitudes so that their graduates are trained with the capabilities that will make planet earth a better world for everyone ”, emphasized the official.
They seek to strengthen research culture
The university also seeks to strengthen the culture of research, with the development of research projects that involve students, professors, and companies in the search for solutions to high-impact problems for Dominican society. Likewise, it contemplates developing university social responsibility initiatives, reducing its environmental liability and working to create a permanent and active link with graduates.
