The official count of the second electoral round of the Lima Bar Association (CAL)scheduled for Saturday March 26, was partially interrupted due to the actions of the group The resistancea well-known far-right faction, whose members were present at the facilities of the National University of San Marcos, such as the USNMSM Admission Center, located in at Óscar R. Benavides Avenue 5737.
According to the information provided by the lawyer Augusto Medina Otazu belonging to the school, characters linked to this group have been seen in the vicinity of door No. 3 of the UNMSM. According to what the lawyer stated, the presence of these people has stopped the count, since they would be preventing the CAL Electoral Committee from continuing its work.

In relation to these facts, it was also manifested the Dr Francisco Gomez, vice dean of list 5, which heads Cesar Bazan Naveda, who corroborated the version given by Medina Otazu. In this regard, Dr. Bazán himself also spoke, who spoke out about the irregular presence of this group in the place of the election and about the grievances directed at him.
“They have been since morning, making trouble and surely looking for some kind of confrontation to which we have not given way because we do not have to fight with anyone, we are here for a democratic election, a democratic party and we have simply ignored them. However, the provocation was constant throughout the day, and they shouted all kinds of expletives, the point was to insult”, Bazan said.
In images obtained by The Republic, you can see small groups of people, who would be mobilizing towards the university facilities carrying megaphones and banners. Also, several of them would be dressed in white garments.
It should be remembered that the first round of this electoral process took place on March 5, with which the aim was to elect the dean of the Lima Bar Association for the period 2022 – 2023. Of a total of 32,887 votes, the results indicated that the two most voted options were those represented by the jurist Javier Villa-Steinwho got 11540, followed by Cesar Bazan Navedawhich was made with 5793 votes.

Villa Stein, who had previously held the position, in 2020, managed to get the lead in the vote. However, the figures achieved were not enough to obtain victory in the first round, since the requirement for this scenario was to achieve the 50% plus one of skillful votes. Villa Stein only had about 35%, which forced the realization of a second round.
