Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC)through the Road Law Control Unit (CODEVIAL)intervened various infrastructures established illegally in the green area and part of the road of the kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highwayto enable the advancement and conclusion in the shortest possible time construction of the project being executed to expedite the transit and do that via more efficient and safe.
The recovery of public spaces was a fundamental act to expedite the reconstruction and modernization of kilometer 9 of this strategic road axis that connects with the 14 provinces of Cibao, through which more than 60 percent of the national population passes, and which guarantees a better and more comfortable journey for drivers.

In a press release, the MOPC assured that the owners of the affected facilities were compensated economically, although some persist in illegally occupying land corresponding to the right of way and refuse to receive the money offered, the amounts of which are derived from the corresponding appraisals.
“Despite being protected by laws that penalize invasion of one public ownershipwe worked to ensure that the CODEVIAL intervention was humane, taking into account the rights and the dignity of people, so that none of the parties is affected,” the note points out.
The extension and remodeling of the Duarte Highway covers from kilometer 9 to Montecristi.
