Public Works intervenes Juan Pablo Duarte bridge

The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, informed that for the intervention of the Duarte bridge, as of this Friday, a road design has been created that will impact the least possible transit vehicle during the nearly 60 days that the works will last.

Speaking at the Free Dialogue, which will be broadcast by this newspaper next Monday, the official said that a schedule has been made between the National Institute of Transit and Land Transport (Intrant) and the General Directorate of Security of Transit and Land Transport (Digesett) to guarantee alternative routes for the users of that bridge.

He explained that in the first phase of the works the two southern lanes will be intervened and then those of the northern part, so there will always be working lanes for the transit.

“In principle, we are going to work with two lanes and two enabled, but when it is in operation, large traffic jams are generated, imagine when two are closed, obviously the impact is important, then the work will be done 24 hours a day so that lasts the stipulated time, which is about 60 days,” said the official.

He said that the intervention was necessary because it is necessary to change structural elements such as the joints, which are the ones that, in the face of any movement, dissipate the vibrations of the efforts that are produced on them.

“These joints must be changed, even, they are not manufactured in the country. The ones we are bringing are German because they are elements of high technology”. The bands and other metallic elements will also be paved and maintained.
