Six months after the arbitrary detention of journalist Nakary Mena Ramos, the Espacio Público organization demanded her full and immediate freedom.
The NGO recalled on their social networks that Mena Ramos was accused of publishing “fake news” and “hate speech” for doing their job.

The arrest occurred after days before the Minister of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, publicly complained about videos on social networks in which he claimed that crime had increased in the Venezuelan capital.
According to the registry kept by the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP), in Venezuela, at least 20 journalists and media workers remain deprived of liberty, while another 12 face judicial proceedings under precautionary measures.
