The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, announced the request for a red alert to Interpol against Argentine President Javier Milei and two of his officials, for being involved in 7 crimes linked to the theft of the Emtrasur plane.
During a press conference held at noon on Tuesday, Saab stated that the measure ordered by a Venezuelan court against Milei and two of her officials is duly supported by the provisions of Venezuelan and international legislation.
“We have requested that these individuals be placed on Interpol red alert,” he added, while showing the document dated September 23, 2024.
“The request has already been submitted, we will wait to see how Interpol will react,” he said.
He pointed out that the measure was adopted on the basis of a crime that violates conventions against organized crime: “for having stolen an airplane, dismantled an airplane and having caused damage to national heritage.”
Saab also stressed that the arrest warrants announced by an Argentine entity against President Nicolás Maduro and other Venezuelan officials, for allegedly being involved in human rights violations, “are a de facto action, a retaliation and a crude maneuver.”
He said that Milei’s government “is not only double-standard, but also extremely dangerous, because it intends to abrogate an issue that does not suit it, such as the issue of human rights, when they are systematically massacring the elderly in that country.”
In this regard, he said that a few days ago, “a demonstration of pensioners was brutally and systematically repressed.”
“Now they want to set themselves up as the champions of human rights in the world, the government of a neo-Nazi like Mr. Milei, who supposedly used to be Catholic, now says he is a Zionist and cries at the Wailing Wall, all to make himself a part of international Zionism in this region. Look how dangerous this person with serious psychiatric disorders has become,” he warned.
Saab said that “Argentina’s hypocrisy regarding this matter of human rights transcends borders, as they use the totally false alibi, (…), that it does not give jurisdiction to Argentine courts to prosecute or prosecute human rights cases in Venezuela or in other countries, they do not have that quality.”
The prosecutor also pointed out that the Venezuelan nation continues to be besieged by foreign powers and that is why they are using the president of Argentina who, in his opinion, is mentally affected, since, among other things, “he says that his dead dog called Conan is his main advisor.”
MP opens investigation into the Ya Casi Venezuela platform
Likewise, Saab referred to the platform Ya Casi Venezuela, which is collecting funds to hire mercenaries to attack Venezuela. He reported that his office has begun investigations into the matter.
In this regard, he stressed that anyone who collaborates by giving money to the aforementioned platform is an accomplice to serious crimes. “It is a national and transnational crime,” he indicated.
The top representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office also said that “they intend to do in Venezuela what they are doing in Gaza and now in Lebanon, with the excessive attack by Israel.”
Human rights in figures
The prosecutor said that in Venezuela, those who have committed human rights violations are investigated and punished.
“We have no double standards, we investigate human rights violations that occur in our country. It is a matter of state,” he said.
Referring to the record of cases, he said that between August 2017 and 2024, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has charged 2,536 officials of the State security forces for alleged human rights violations.
There are also “83 individuals indicted as collaborators,” he said.
Regarding those deprived of liberty, Saab detailed that 1,013 officials from different organizations have been sanctioned with the measure, as well as 63 private individuals.
In addition, 3,145 officials and 42 private individuals have been charged, he added.
“An interesting fact is that we have managed to convict 581 officials and 63 collaborators, which gives a total of 644 individuals convicted in the last 7 years for violating human rights in Venezuela. What has the Argentine justice system done about human rights violations? Nothing,” he said.
Genocide in Gaza and Lebanon
The prosecutor also referred to what is happening in Gaza and Lebanon. In this regard, he stated that “the most regrettable thing is that nobody says anything” regarding the crimes that are being committed in that region of the Middle East.
He specified that Israel not only intends to destroy Gaza and Rafah, “but now it is proceeding to cause hundreds of deaths in Lebanon, before the eyes of the entire world. After what they did in the 70s and 80s, they now want to destroy Lebanon, an ancient country that is mentioned several times in the Bible, a truly mystical country of people with their human qualities and their intellect. They are even using beepers and have killed innocent children,” he said.
