The Public Ministry announced this Sunday that it will charge two officials from the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) for their alleged responsibility in the death of Juan Ángel Pantoja, attached to the Corps of Criminal and Criminal Scientific Investigations (Cicpc), an event that occurred in the rush state.

This was announced by the attorney general of the Republic appointed by the illegitimate and extinct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, who specified that Yarumy Figueroa and José Carlos Flores, implicated in the murder of the police officer, will be placed at the order of the Second Court state control Apure.

Likewise, William Saab reported that those allegedly responsible for the homicide will be charged with the crimes of “qualified homicide with futile motives, torture and breach of the duty of custody of detainees.”

Detective Juan Ángel Pantoja, from the Scientific, Criminal and Criminalistics Investigation Corps (Cicpc), was arrested on July 5 by officials from the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) for investigations into alleged extortion.

Unofficial sources told Radio Fe y Alegría Noticias that the ongoing investigation is related to the escape of businessman and rancher Reyes Gabriel Hernández, who was deprived of liberty for the crime of fraud against the government of Apure.

It was learned that the following day, in the afternoon, he was taken to the headquarters of the organization to which he belonged in San Fernando to be reviewed. There, he was able to inform his companions about what was happening and that he feared for his life.

On the morning of Thursday, July 7, Cicpc officials learned of Pantoja’s death. However, when they went to the Dgcim headquarters with a forensic doctor to start the investigations, they prevented her from entering and refused to hand over her body.

new autopsy

A new autopsy performed on the body of detective Juan Pantoja determined that the official did not die of suffocation by hanging, as the first report indicated, but drowned after being submerged in a pipe with water.
