Santo Domingo.- He Public Ministry of the Dominican Republic requested this Friday that a measure of coercion consisting of preventive detention in relation to the shooting that occurred on the campus of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD)a fact that left at least two security personnel injured by pellet shots.
The request falls on Alexander Jimenez Galvan35 years old, designated as alleged responsible of the incident while the circumstances surrounding the altercation are investigated.
The National Police of the Dominican Republic reported on Thursday night that Jiménez Galván was arrested in the afternoonmoments after the event, thanks to the collaboration of the university’s security personnel. The accused, resident in Santo Domingo Westis a law student and merchant.

During the confrontation with security agents, the detainee was also injured and was taken into custody to a health center, where he received medical attention for blunt force trauma and a head injury.
According to the version offered to the authorities, last Wednesday, October 15, Jiménez Galván would have had an inconvenience at the university that caused the retention of some documents. The next day he went to the campus to retrieve them and when he left, the altercation occurred with the agents for allegedly being in an area where parking was not allowed, according to the UASD Public Relations Department.
Authorities expanded investigations to determine the origin of the conflictthe motivations for the event and the possible participation of other peoplein coordination with the Public Ministry.
