Public Ministry regrets defenses of the Coral case “hinder” work of the court

Mirna Ortiz, Coordinator of Litigation of the Specialized Prosecution Office for Administrative Corruption (Pepca), regretted that the prosecutors were summoned to know the measure this Friday, but that
it was postponed for the third time at the request of defense attorneys.

“The Public Ministry, as always, is ready to hear about its hearings, but on this occasion the defense of the accused Alexander Monterowhich was recently empowered, requested the postponement from the court to the
purposes of being able to know the glosses of the process”, he explained.

Likewise, he said that the defendant’s lawyer Rafael Nunez de Aza, Felix Portessent excuses to the court, since he was hearing another process in the interior of the country.

Ortiz said that this led to the hearing being suspended to guarantee the defense rights of these citizens, warning the judge that for the next hearing the parties that are

“Three times this mandatory review has been postponed, each time for reasons that are attributable to the lawyers and the accused, on all occasions,” said the representative of the Public Ministry when responding to journalists who asked questions about the process in the Palace. of Justice of New City.

The criminal network dismantled with Operation Coral carried out its criminal activities in the Presidential Security Corps (Cusep) and in the Specialized Tourist Security Corps (Cestur), mainly with

The Public Ministry established in the course of the judicial process that they carried out fraudulent operations to acquire movable and immovable property, luxury vehicles and properties in different parts of the country,
valued in millions of pesos.
