The Public Ministry (MP) began an ex officio investigation after an explosion was recorded this morning in the PH Urbana building, located on 54 Obarrio Street.
According to the assistant prosecutor, Julio Villarreal, when these types of situations are recorded, it is necessary to initiate an ex officio investigation to determine what the causes were and verify the status of the victims.
“For us it is important to determine the seriousness of the injuries of the people who have suffered some physical ailment as a result of the explosion. Unofficially we have a lady in serious condition, there is talk, unofficially, of 80% of body burns, obviously this immediately generates our intervention », he detailed.
He said that the investigation is carried out in conjunction with the Meritorious Fire Department, the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), MP experts and other private entities.
In addition, the prosecutor Villarreal said that among the first reports they have obtained from the Mayor’s Office of Panama that the building obtained the occupation permit this year.
He stressed that they will continue to collect evidence as part of the investigation that has already begun.
