The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported through a statement the initiation of an investigation for the forced disappearance of the Venezuelan citizen Ricardo Prada, arrested at the end of January 2025 in Michigan and subsequently held in a maximum security center in Texas.
The letter signed by SAAB states that Prada worked as a dealer in the city of Detroit and was arrested by US authorities to be deported.
At the end of March, Prada informed a friend who was detained in a maximum security detention center in Texas, after which his whereabouts are unknown.
He adds that “a note from The New York Times states that Prada does not appear among those deported to El Salvador who are arbitrarily deprived of liberty in the CECOT. Likewise, the article states that the US authorities reported that Prada was deported, but have not revealed to what destiny.”
Therefore, they appointed a prosecutor with competence in human rights protection who will advance the necessary proceedings to find the whereabouts of the Connational.
In this regard, the Public Ministry ratified its condemnation to the treatment that the Venezuelan migrants in the United States and El Salvadorand reiterated that these acts constitute crimes against humanity.
