The coordinating prosecutor of the Special Team against Corruption of Power (Eficcop), Marita Sonia Barreto Rivera, will be preliminarily investigated, for 60 days, by the Public Ministry, for the alleged crime against the public administration.

The modality of the aforementioned crime, which Barreto would have committed, is improper disclosure of identity, and omission, refusal or delay of functional acts to the detriment of the State.
Journalist Carlos Paredes, director of Contracorriente, as recalled, reported a week ago that prosecutor Barreto had leaked confidential information about an investigation to congressman Guillermo Bermejo.
“On Friday we have already delivered evidence to the National Control Authority (of the Public Ministry) of how she leaks information to the press, violating the law and the Constitution,” Paredes said last week.
“There is no political bias in anything Eficcop does. Here we only do our job of prosecuting crime,” prosecutor Barreto said in RPP on Monday.
Barreto, for her part, indicated that her work at Eficcop has caused her to be subject to “regulations” and even assured that an “incident” was reported at her home that night.
