case details

Given the events that occurred, the residents of the Guatire area have published what happened on April 12 through their social networks. Here are some of the comments and information published:

For Winner Arteaga, a professor at the Bolivarian University, who posted on Twitter that during the events “there were excesses and excesses on the part of PoliZamora and there is graphic and testimonial evidence that verifies this. There is even evidence that the mayor was aware of the procedure at all times (as he expresses it in his 14A statement) ».

Likewise, he indicated that the pronouncements by the Mayor “have been condemnatory, cataloging the families as invaders or, failing that, as victimizers.”

“They want to give an image of the good-natured mayor who does not break a plate, but they do not care about the conditions in which these families live,” Arteaga said in his account on the social network, while stressing that in the face of these events the people demand Justice.

For her part, Lennys Medina, who is a political scientist and granddaughter of one of those affected, stated, also through Twitter, that “the case that occurred in the Villa Zamora 21 subdivision in Guatire has nothing to do with any political activity, it is a issue of disrespect where the human rights of several families who had their homes and crops there were violated, and that is what they are claiming.

ecocide

During the events, an ecocide was also committed, trees were destroyed and the production of an 8,000-square-meter conuco ended.

“We accompany the peasant families of the Villa Zamora 21 subdivision, attacked illegally and vilely,” destroying homes, trees and 8,000 square meters of a plot of land, said David Hernández.

Lennys Medina also denounced the ecocide and through Twitter indicated: «It is hard to see how the people who did this do not hurt other people’s food. Justice will come.”

NA Commission

Given the facts and the complaints made, the Special Anti-Fascist Commission of the National Assembly (AN) visited the Villa Zamora 2021 Parcelamiento located in Guatire last Friday, in order to verify the alleged ecocide and land dispossession of peasants, for which decided to summon the mayor of the jurisdiction, Raziel Rodríguez.

Hair asks for justice

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, commented that “an opposition mayor despised the people and invaded the land owned by a peasant. They destroyed his crops, his house, they destroyed everything.”

He indicated that they felled 18 Samán trees, Ceiba trees, over 300 years old, just because they were in an area that the Mayor did not like. On the land they planned to build a go-kart track. In the face of all this situation, the party mobilized and we took care of the family, he said.

In the face of events like these, Cabello pointed out, the full weight of the law must be applied and not fall into blackmail, everyone must assume their responsibility.

These serious cases are managed by the National Directorate of the Party. We must be and appear, even more “resemble the people who chose us”.
