Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) reported on Tuesday that, so far, there is no evidence confirming that the death of a 61 -year -old is related to the bacteria known as Flesh eating bacteria or “carnivorous bacteria”, as versions that circulate on social networks and some media.
According to the official report, the patient died in a private health center after being referred to another medical establishment, where she presented an acute dehydration picture secondary to gastroenteritis.
The initial medical report indicates that it was an abdominal infectious picture of unknown origin.
The authorities explained that they have requested the realization of an autopsy, pending authorization by family members, to precisely clarify the cause of death and if it was the aforementioned carnivorous bacteria.
“So far, neither the treating medical team nor the technical team of the Ministry of Health have determined that it is the bacteria mentioned in the rumors,” the institution emphasized.
The Ministry urged the population to remain calm and avoid the dissemination of unconfirmed information, recommending to be guided only by official communications issued by the health authorities.
