During the epidemiological week 14 three were registered Deaths maternalcorresponding to a Dominican woman and two of Haitian nationality, within the age group of 20 to 29 years.
Until April 5 of the current year, the Ministry of Health Public and the Directorate of Epidemiology report 46 Deaths maternal (26 Dominican and 20 Haitian mothers). Last year, at the same period, 51 deaths had been notified in total (32 Dominican and 19 Haitian), reflecting a 10 % decrease in the accumulated total.
Of the Deaths Children 19 deaths are notified this week. On the same date of the previous year, 29 had been notified, an indicator that also shows descent. The accumulated is 471 deaths this year.

Compared to the same period in 2024, 586 deaths were notified, a decrease of 20 %.
About the Deaths Neonatalsthe health authorities indicate that there were 15 in the last week, raising to 407 the total so far from 2025.
Dengue
From March 30 to April 5, in Republic Dominican 52 patients with symptoms of dengueof which five were confirmed: One in El Seibo, another in La Vega, a third in San Pedro de Macorís and two in Valverde.
The total suspicious patients since January is 606 and the number of confirmed through Laboratory tests It is 72.
To date, this year there is no Deaths associated To this disease transmitted by the mosquito bite Aedes aegypti.
Malaria
Republic Dominican experienced a 47 % decrease in cases of malaria Between 2015 until 2022, according to the Pan American Organization of the Health (OPS).
In this 2025 they have been confirmed 141 cases of malaria mainly from San Juan (66 %) and Azua (18 %). In this last week four cases were confirmed, all in San Juan.
Until week 14, Health Public records 7,424 suspicions. In 2024 14,769 were reported.
Leptospirosis
Despite the report of six suspicious cases, during week 14 there was no Confirmations of Leptospirosis In the country.
To date, the authorities notify 136 suspicious cases and 20 Confirmationsas well as a death caused by this bacterium that is transmitted through the urine of animals.
Virus Respiratory
During week 14, several circulation was detected virus Respiratoryincluding influenza A (H1N1) PDM09, respiratory syncitial virus and parainfluenza.
Given this situation, the Ministry of Health Public reinforces surveillance and response through preventive measures such as hand washing, the use of masks in people with symptoms and medical consultation against fever or discomfort.
In the same way, case monitoring and control strategies have been strengthened through Sentinel surveillance and virological analysis.
