Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Public Health reiterated this Wednesday that there have been no deaths in the country as a result of cholera.
In his customary Wednesday press conference, it was reported that the Félix María Goico hospital reported that kidney problems were the cause of the death of a man who was initially said to be due to cholera.
In the Hospital de los Billeteros there are three 3 patients awaiting results to be discharged.
Likewise, the Ministry of Health reported that four new positive cases of cholera were identified.
He reported that during the Christmas holiday house-to-house visits were made and 68 random samples were taken from asymptomatic people where new patients were detected.
He pointed out that since the arrival of the disease, last October, the country has accumulated 17 cases of this disease, of which four are “imported” and 13 confirmed.
He also denied that he has information about the disease, as stated by the president of the Dominican Medical College (CMD), Dr. Senen Caba.
Dr. Eladio Pérez, Vice Minister of Collective Health, served as spokesperson at the press conference, which was also attended by Gina Estrella, Director of Public Health Risk; and Jesús María Guerrero, director of the Los Billeteros hospital.
