The FFSP issued a statement through which it denounces that ASSE issued the abrupt order to terminate more than 1,000 contracts covered by the Covid Plan, which are added to those that have already been terminated during this time that were used in the first instance in the reinforcement to the fight against the pandemic (emergency, CTI, surgical block, among others) and that currently, after the end of the health emergency, they were performing functions within the structure of care centers throughout the country.
The public health union expressed its outright rejection of this type of “outrage and dismissals”, given that “they directly affect the care and health of thousands of Uruguayans who receive public health care.”
Omission of assistance
“In order not to affect the quality of care, we will be taking the necessary measures by closing beds and services, adapting to the number of officials that the center actually has,” the union said.
In this sense, in some centers “the affectation of these dismissals leads to an imminent risk of falling into omission of assistance, as they do not have their own capacity to respond even to daily care,” they warn.
The FFSP assures that several directors from different parts of the country have communicated to the organization that “they do not know what to do in this situation and have suggested that they should close services due to lack of personnel.”
“Decisions of this type, taken from a desk, without prior analysis or study to support the measure, makes it impossible to plan such an impact,” the union said.
The FFSP added: “The workers who are disaffected today are the same heroes without capes that this government was so grateful for.”
They emphasize that making a decision of this magnitude deserved a more humane treatment, out of respect for the task they perform and the commitment they have in performing tasks since the start of the pandemic.
Through the statement it is indicated that in the Rendering of Accounts there are articles that include the entry of human resources, but it is unknown where and in what positions.
The union states that “ASSE must not only provide the best service to its users, but must also set the course for excellence in the National Integrated Health System, but this type of measure leads to very dangerous signals, putting the quality of care at risk. of the users”.
For this reason, they demand that the authorities “reconsider the decision taken.”
