The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MISPAS), through the Vice Ministry of Collective Health and its General Directorate of Epidemiology (DIGEPI), notifies the population, the confirmation through corresponding analysis of three new cases of cholera, corresponding to a male of 59 years of age, a 16-year-old female, both of Haitian nationality, one of them recently entered the country and the third case is a 57-year-old male, a Dominican residing in Villa Francisca.
The patients were evaluated and treated with the appropriate treatment between 02 and 03 of this month of March, presenting watery diarrhea, but without complications because they were not dehydrated, for which, already stabilized, they were sent home to continue with treatment. their respective treatments.
The epidemiological report of this day notifies zero occupancy of hospital beds for cholera and establishes that to date no deceased has been officially reported, while more than 88 patients have recovered satisfactorily from the disease.
Similarly, the Directorates of Health Areas (DAS) I, II, IV, V, together with the Vice Ministry of Collective Health, through its Epidemiology Directorate and its Risk Management Directorate, maintain preventive, monitoring and control of cases and permanent intervention in the identified sectors to detect any suspicion or emergency that may arise.
According to the epidemiological report so far there are no relatives of the patients with suspicious symptoms of the disease. The Ministry of Public Health continues to urge the population to take care of themselves and if they present symptoms of watery diarrhea several times a day, stay well hydrated and immediately go to the nearest health center.
