Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MISPAS) reported this Wednesday that the two positive patients to the monkey poxwho are in isolation at the Hospital, Dr. Ramón de Lara, remain in good condition and asymptomatic, while five suspected cases of this disease are being investigated.
During the customary meeting with the dam, Dr. Eladio Pérez, Vice Minister of Collective Health (VSC) said that the Dominicans affected with monkey pox 21 and 39 years old, respectively, residents of Santo Domingo, but who were infected in the United States.
These no longer present symptoms or skin lesions, however they will continue in isolation to complete the treatment.
Meanwhile, five more suspicious cases are being investigated monkey poxthrough the National Epidemiological Surveillance System and that have no relation to the previous cases.
“Until now there is no type of alarm, but MISPAS continues to work to detect any virus present in the country in time and with general measures to mitigate it in time and also keep the population informed,” he pointed out.
He explained that the Ministry of Health maintains the follow-up of the criteria and protocols to ensure control and reduce the levels of infections, not only of monkeypox, but also to control the transmission of dengue and the incidence of COVID-19.
“Until now there is no type of alarm, but MISPAS continues to work to detect any virus present in the country in time and with general measures to mitigate the disease,” he said.
Regarding the current situation of dengue in the country, he clarified that it remains stable and that some 20 deaths from dengue are being investigated.
In this sense, he exhorted the population not to be alarmed and to remain attentive to the reports that will be offered later on the situation of the health sector.
