Public consultation opens for draft law on protected areas

The Ministry of the Environment, through the Directorate of Protected Areas and Biodiversity, invites the general public to participate in the public consultation of the Bill entitled “BY WHICH THE PRINCIPLE OF NON-ENVIRONMENTAL REGRESSION AND THE RIGHT TO PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE CREATION AND MODIFICATION OF PROTECTED AREAS ARE GUARANTEED.”

This document is available on the MiAMBIENTE website (www.miambiente.gob.pa) so that those interested in providing their comments, contributions and suggestions can download it.

You may also review and/or obtain a copy of said document, at your cost, at the offices of the Protected Areas and Biodiversity Directorate of MiAMBIENTE, located on Diego Domínguez Street, Building No. 804, Albrook, Ancón district, district and province of Panama, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, telephone 500-0877, extension 6167.

Comments, contributions or suggestions to the aforementioned document may be submitted physically by means of a note addressed to the Minister of the Environment, at the address indicated above or at any of the Regional Directorates of MiAMBIENTE. They may also be sent to the following email address: [email protected]In both cases, the sender must indicate his name, address, box, or any other means to which correspondence can be sent.

Legal Basis: Law 125 of February 4, 2020, Law 6 of 2002, Executive Decree 57 of 2000. The public consultation period will be for a total of 25 business days, from August 22, 2024 to September 25, 2024.
