This Tuesday, the Public Consultation for the Comprehensive Care Project for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was held at the Federal Legislative Palace.
The day was headed by the president of the Legislative Branch, Jorge Rodríguez, who welcomed the participation of all organizations in the country, to prepare a bill that guarantees and ensures the human rights of people with ASD.
“I feel very excited that the doors of this Palace have been opened for this public consultation to take place,” Rodríguez said in statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.
In this sense, he emphasized that, with these debates, progress can be made and that Venezuela has a law that guarantees children and adults with this condition.
“If something characterizes our constitution, it is that it guarantees, that is, it guarantees their human and social rights to the entire population of Venezuela,” Rodríguez stressed.
“There cannot be any type of discrimination, on the contrary, the conditions must be generated so that the ways of communicating with People with Autism Spectrum Disorder are adapted and made more flexible,” he added.
In this regard, he promised to sanction the project by March 30; so that by April 2 – when World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated -, there will be a law.
“April 2 is World Autism Day, we promise that on Thursday, March 30, the law will be sanctioned in Venezuela so that we can, as a gift from Venezuela, emphasize the emphasis that should be placed on people,” asserted.
This bill It is written by the mothers, fathers and representatives of children who have this syndrome, it also has contributions from adults who suffer from this syndrome.
One of the main objectives of this legal framework is to promote awareness and training in institutions and in the population about the condition of these people.
