THE Brazilian Communication Company (EBC) signed a partnership agreement with the Federal Institutes of Sul-Riograndense (IFSUL), Catarinense (IFC), Espírito Santo (IFES), Sergipe (IFS), Paraná (IFPR), Maranhão (IFMA) and the City Hall of Pindamonhangaba (SP), which will become part of the National Public Communication Network (RNCP).
“There is no public communication in Brazil without the National Public Communication Network“, stated the CEO of EBCJean Lima. “THE EBC is present directly in three squares and needs the network’s partnership to reach the entire Brazilian population”.
The board of Brazilian Communication Company (EBC), representatives of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom), the Ministry of Communications and public broadcasters participate in the second meeting of the RNCP in 2024 this Monday (2), in Brasília.
“This is the biggest expansion of the public network in history”, said the advisor to the Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, Octávio Pieranti.
According to the advisor, expanding the network is a strategic agenda for Secom. “THE EBC has contributed strongly to this strategy in recent years”, he assesses.
Pieranti made an assessment showing that the National Public Communication Network is experiencing its greatest expansion in history. According to him, until 2010 there were 35 radio or television grants for local public broadcasters. From 2010 to 2024, there were another 31 grants, representing an increase in pace. This year alone, 128 channels have already been assigned.
The next step towards implementing the channels is a document to contract transmission equipment with the Purchasing Center of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services.
EBC balance sheet
The CEO of EBC, Jean Lima, presented a balance sheet for the company this year. “In 2024, the EBC it went further thanks to the partnership with the network’s broadcasters”, he stated. THE EBC reaches 188 cities through the network’s 162 radio stations and 2,548 municipalities through 126 TV generators that make up the RNCP.
The new Uncensoredthe Brazil Night Reporter and the broadcast of the Brazilian Football Championship Series B each had more than 5 million viewers, just considering the main cities (Distrito Federal, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo).
The general director of EBCMaíra Bittencourt, remembers that after more than two years without meetings, the RNCP met again in Brasília at the beginning of this year and highlighted the joint coverage of São João, Círio de Nazaré and Série B football as the fruits of this partnership, in addition to 8 thousand hours of broadcasts and reports.
