“Although the motivations for the crime are not yet known, we need to note that good democratic practice in our society requires organized and strong parties. The attack against the PT in Diadema, for whatever reason, is also an attack against political freedom and the free exercise of democracy in the country, one of the fundamental precepts of the Workers’ Party”, said the PT State Directorate, in note.

The PT bench of the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp) called for a strict investigation into the motivation for the crime. “We, state deputies, express total solidarity with our fellow PT militants and leaders in Diadema and we join in demanding the competent authorities to elucidate this attack that violates party and organizational freedom, in a clear intimidation of our party” .

The Public Security Secretariat said, in a statement, that the Civil Police is investigating the case. “Representatives of the establishment attended this Tuesday (14) at the city’s 2nd Police District, where they registered a police report. According to reports, the walls were stained with paint, objects were damaged, in addition to the theft of two computers, three CPUs and a printer.”

The police requested forensic examination and fingerprint collection at the scene to help identify those involved in the crime.
