Psychologist says Texas massacre leads us to pay more attention to mental health

Ángela Jiménez, who is a social psychologist, spoke this Thursday about acts of violence and the use of weapons by adolescents or young people, after the massacre that occurred in a school in Texas.

He indicated that this fact leads us to pay attention to violence, to mental health problems and not paying attention to this has unfortunate consequences.

The specialist stated that prevention is important, but it is not the only thing we must do. “As a society, we must begin to deconstruct certain ideas that we have, such as when these mass shootings happen, it is the weapons that kill, yes it is the weapons, but we must focus on the human being who uses these methods to express some pain,” she explained.

He specified that what these people or harassers do is repeat a pattern that they have learned either at home or another place where they have been.
