PSV wins the Dutch Cup against Ajax

PSV Eindhoven beat Ajax Amsterdam 2-1 on Sunday in the final of the Dutch Cup, which was won for the tenth time in its history, and ten years later its last title in this competition.

It was Ajax who opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Ryan Gravenberche. A second goal was disallowed for Ajax before the break.

And PSV did not take long to turn the result around the locker room, first with a header from Mexican midfielder Erick Gutiérrez (48) and in the 50th minute with another goal by Cody Gakpo.

Ajax saw again how a goal was disallowed, this time by Davy Klaasen. The Amsterdam club could not achieve their dominance (59% possession of the ball) and suffered from a lack of precision (2 shots between the three posts, to 5 for PSV).

The Eindhoven club entered its name in the list of winners for the tenth time of the Dutch Cup, after their last victory in 2012. Ajax, current champion, has 20 Cup titles, and leads PSV by 4 points in the Eredivisie league.
