In a press conference Made by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Jorge Rodríguez, vice president of Communication and Electoral Affairs, called on the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, to clarify the whereabouts and the legal situation of 253 Venezuelan migrants. According to Rodríguez, these people are missing and allegedly deprived of liberty in conditions that violate their human rights.
The PSUV leader questioned the measures adopted against migrants, demanding details about the judicial process and the alleged crimes imputed. In addition, he denounced the existence of what he described as “concentration camps” in El Salvador, where the basic rights and dignity of those affected would be systematically violated.
Access of lawyers, migrants list and comply with the principles of international law
Rodríguez urged the Salvadoran Government to guarantee the access of lawyers to the case, provide a complete list of retained migrants and abide by the principles of international law. “The extreme right continues to applaud these actions, which threaten the sovereignty and dignity of our nation,” he concluded.
