Santo Domingo.- The Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) supported the proposal of the bishop of the diocese of La Altagracia, Jesús Castro Marte, that the National Congress approve the Penal Code without further delay, but without including the abortion.
“The legislators must approve this bill that has been known in Congress for years, but it must be done without including abortion, which in addition to the threat to the lives of children innocentalso contradicts the Constitution of the Republic, as Bishop Castro Marte explained in his homily at the Basilica of Higüey on the occasion of the Day of Our Lady of Altagracia”, said the president of the PRSC, Federico Antún Batlle (Quique), .
The political leader recalled that this organization reintroduced last week in Congress the draft of the Penal Code together with other pieces of legislation pending approval, so that they are known in this extraordinary legislature.
In this sense, he maintained that the Magna Carta clearly and precisely establishes that “the right to life is inviolable from the moment of conception to death”.
“Abortion is a hateful act of violence against the unborn who are in the womb of mothers,” he said.
He said that the Social Christian Reformist Party, like organization Based on Christian principles, it will always defend the right to life, “and for this reason we are firmly opposed to the legalization of abortion.”
Yesterday, Bishop Castro Marte asked the legislators to approve the Penal Code that for years has been discussed in the National Congress.
“The bishops have carried out a petition to the legislators so that the bill of the Penal Code is submitted to the extraordinary legislature for its approval, remembering that we maintain our position that human life begins at conception”, he said.
