The Ministry of Culture determined the provisional protection of the Aikas Pata archaeological site, located in the district of Luricocha, province of Huanta, in the department of Ayacucho, as an urgent action to protect this heritage from threats of damage.
It happens that the archaeological site Aikas Pata, valued for its cultural richness and historical importancefaces risks both from human interventions and environmental factors, according to technical reports that supported the measure.
Among the threatscollection of earth and stones arranged on the west side and middle part of the polygonal proposed for the site, as well as the existence of a motorable trail that is oriented from east to west and that crosses transversally through the archaeological property. Added to this is the urban expansion towards the southwest of the archaeological polygonal.
Among the natural factors, indicates that the archaeological site is affected by rainwater runoff, as well as by the same environmental factors typical of the area.
Therefore, the P was determinedProvisional protection of the Aikas Pata archaeological sitefor a period of two years, extendable for the same period, unless a direct impact on the collective rights of indigenous or native peoples is identified; In which case, the maximum period for the declaration and definitive delimitation of the property is three calendar years.
For this purpose, a stoppage and/or cessation of the impact was ordered. With the presence of authorities, the “rremoval of the clearing of earth and stones arranged inside “Aikas Pata”. Also, the Crime Prevention Prosecutor of the province of Huanta and the Police of the Huanta Police Station were urged to be alert to any act that could affect the integrity of the aforementioned archaeological asset.”says the document.
