Through a hearing requested by the First Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime, the judge of guarantees, Wilbert Castillo, ordered the provisional arrest of three women for the alleged commission of the crime of trafficking in persons for the purpose of child sexual exploitation.
The women, residents of Finca Balsa, district of Barú, were detained through a binational operation between Costa Rican and Panamanian authorities in the border cordon, called “Luz de Esperanza”, this Thursday. In Costa Rica, a man was arrested.

He explained that there are other people involved and the “appalling thing about the case” is that the adults were relatives of the children.
It transpired that among the evidence collected there is recorded pornographic material and their fate is being investigated.
