The trough that causes heavy downpours in a large part of the country this Sunday will continue to affect the national territory in the remaining hours of today and even in the morning and evening sessions on Monday.
This was reported this afternoon by the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) and for whose report the Emergency Operations Center (COE) increased the number of provinces on alert for possible flooding to 10.
The COE maintains the prohibition of the use of spas and recreational activities in mountainous areas of the provinces that are under alert.
The forecast of Onamet indicates that for “the troughdownpours with electrical storms and gusts of wind will continue to be generated over the country, mainly in locations in the northeast, northwest, southeast and the Central Mountain Range.
Warn travelers
The Onamet urged citizens who go to their residences to drive with greater caution, “since the rainy strong tend to reduce visibility and make roads slippery.
The provinces on alert
The provinces on green alert for possible flooding are Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Santiago, Monseñor Nouel, El Gran Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, San Cristóbal, Peravia and María Trinidad Sánchez.
