Aracelis Sánchez, a human rights defender and director of the NGO Orfavideh, was intimidated by officials from the Scientific, Criminal, and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc), as denounced on Thursday, December 1, the Venezuelan Human Rights Action Education Program (provide).
Through Provea’s social networks, a video was posted in which Sánchez recounts that members of the Scientific Police appeared at his residence to tell him that he had an alleged complaint and that he had to appear this Friday the 2nd at the Cicpc headquarters.
“Cicpc officials broke into my house. They knocked on the door very loudly. When I opened, thinking it was my son, it was the officials, “he recounted.
She said that the agents of that security body did not know how to answer the reason for the summons against her and stated that she has not committed any crime. She proceeded to take photos of the officials, explaining to them that the prosecutor appointed by the now extinct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, had said that when there were outrages by troops it was important to document them.

Once that was done, the Cicpc officials hid so as not to be portrayed in the photos. While she was doing that, she mentioned that she was a human rights defender and they left without making her sign anything. She denounced that they are charging her with the alleged commission of crimes against the person.

Provea adds in his Twitter thread that Cicpc officials told Sánchez that if he refused to appear, his guilt would be assumed.
After what happened, Aracelis Sánchez and her husband went to the Ombudsman’s office to denounce what was happening.
“We denounce this act as a new and clear attempt to intimidate and intimidate human rights defenders and those who denounce the serious abuses committed by the police and the military,” says Provea.
