If they have evidence, let them present it.. This is how President Andrés Manuel López Obrador responded to the accusations of some political actors and in advertising campaigns in the sense that he has links with drug trafficking.
“Stop slandering. It is very unfortunate, vulgar, low (…) I think it is a matter of nostalgia and, with all due respect, of age”, he emphasized yesterday at the press conference at the National Palace when referring to the voices that with various statements have assured that would have a pact with criminality.
“Don’t think that it worries me a lot either, in the first place because I am very calm with my conscience; and secondly, because it is false, completely false, I do not establish relationships of complicity with anyone -he said emphatically-, that is why I can confront the mafia of power, the criminals dedicated to violence, organized crime and delinquency of white collar, yes I can face them.”
The president took advantage of a question regarding the processes against the former governor of Chihuahua, César Duarte, and the president of Tamaulipas, Francisco Javier García Cabeza de Vaca, for alleged links in crimes linked to organized crime to respond to what he classified as slander against him.
I cannot comment on anything in relation to the governors because we are on the eve of the elections. (But) I want to respond to a statement that our adversaries are using very frequently, especially in these days due to the elections, wanting to confuse, deceive, that we, I have links with drug trafficking or drug trafficking groups. All this is very common, very vulgar.
He regretted that Porfirio Muñoz Ledo himself, a member of Morena, has fallen for those statements.
He knows me very well and dares to maintain that the government has ties to drug trafficking. It is a judgment without foundation, reckless.
He also spoke of the former PRI candidate for the Presidency and former governor of Sinaloa, Francisco Labastida Ochoa, who made similar statements in a telephone interview.
“Mr. Labastida did the same, but also without any proof. I think it’s a matter of nostalgia and with all due respect to age, that’s why I can’t continue once my term is over, because the worst thing that can happen in politics is that you make a fool of yourself and if you have too much attachment to power or become attached to power can make many mistakes. You have a cycle and be at peace. (…) They show the copper. Those who used to have a little sense, acted with prudence, are desperate and alienated or blinded by courage.
He questioned the moral authority of the former Secretary of the Interior during Ernesto Zedillo’s six-year term, since
was a promoter from Fobaproa and illegally received resources for his presidential campaign in 2000, a case known as Pemexgate.
The Tabasco also denied having agreed with Enrique Peña Nieto to come to power, as Labastida said. He added that he only recognized the former president for not intervening in the electoral process, as Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón did at the time.
In the 2006 presidential process, he recalled, in addition to fraud, there was an intense campaign against him devised by political advertisers
mercenaries Dick Morris (United States) and Antonio Solá (Spain); The first is coined the phrase:
López Obrador is a danger to Mexicowhich had an impact because
the power mafia had 99.9 percent control of the mainstream media.
But look what the town is, a lot of pieces, even with everything and that we won, and they had to do the fraud. And he estimated that his victory was by at least 5 million votes.
