Protests and closures continue in Santiago, Horconcitos, Panamá Oeste and the capital city

This Monday the Pan-American highway, in Santiago, province of Veraguas, woke up closed again. The blockade of this road by protesters has been going on for more than two weeks.

The Pan-American highway in Horconcitos also woke up blocked. This point had been reopened this Sunday, but today it also woke up closed.

Members of the Single Union of Construction and Related Workers (Suntracs) returned to protest in the streets on Monday, which affected vehicular traffic in various parts of the capital city and in West Panama.

While in Pacora, two of the four lanes on the vehicular bridge in this sector were reopened.

At about 7:30 am this Monday, closures were reported in sectors such as via Israel, northern Panama, via Spain, Punta Pacifica.

The closures of these important roads continue despite the fact that the National Government and different groups reached consensus on several of the points related to the basic food basket.

Similarly, protests were reported on the Inter-American highway in the Loma Cová sector, Arraiján district, in West Panama.
