In the assembly convened this January 30 by union leaders from the sector, the teachers criticized that the meeting of the International Labor Organization (ILO) together with representatives of the Government and other sectors did not take place in Caracas “so that the representatives of the capital could attend”
The last call of the educational sector for this Monday, January 30, ended with an assembly that took place in front of the Polar Tower, in Plaza Venezuela, in order to ask the International Labor Organization (ILO), which will meet in Margarita to listen to the “clamor of workers in all sectors”, who ask for better wages and labor demands.
“Today the Government is starving all the working sectors of Venezuela (…) We are tired of this mockery. In the case of education, we have been discussing with different ministries for a year and it has not been possible to sign a contract,” claimed Edgar Machado, president of the Venezuelan Teachers Union.
The union spokesman denounced and called on parents and representatives to claim that the State is “incorporating” members of Chamba Juvenil and Hugo Chávez Battle Units (UBCH) to replace teachers who do not attend to teach classes. “Gentlemen representatives, we were prepared to teach your children. Those people are not, ”he criticized.
On the other hand, he condemned the Minister of Education Yelitze Santaella, despite the protests at the national level. As Shakira says, the State seems blind, deaf and dumb. They don’t want to see what is happening in Venezuela, where the workers are going out to protest because we are trying to survive”.
The assembly also had the objective of guiding educators so that they know what responses to give to the intimidation they have suffered in the educational institutions in which they work for attending the marches and assemblies that began on Monday, January 9.

As in past protests, union leaders from the health sector and workers of the Caracas Metro, the National Anonymous Telephone Company of Venezuela (Cantv) and other public entities joined the demands of the teachers. “The fight belongs to all workers at the national level,” said Judith León, president of the Venezuelan bioanalysts association.
They did not stay still. A group of protesters who had attended the assembly joined the march called by the student union of the University of Venezuela (UCV) and other unions of the house of studies to go to Esquina El Chorro.
